About Me

What’s your role? Employment law is a constantly changing area and my focus is to ensure that clients understand the legal considerations and impact of day-to-day decisions such as providing advice and guidance on employment law and practical issues that arise – from drafting contracts of employment and advising on managing sickness absence to family friendly rights. I also help in resolving disputes either at a tribunal or internally. I also provide advice on more strategic changes, such as redundancy situations or business reorganisations and changes to employees' terms and conditions. I work closely with our corporate team, advising on the employment aspects of buying and selling companies, and am part of our insolvency team. Your specialisms: Representing clients in claims for unfair dismissal, whistleblowing, sex and disability discrimination; -Providing strategic advice to employers, including the planning and consultation for redundancy -Advising on employment aspects of acquisitions, business transactions and TUPE; -Representing employers in disciplinary, dismissal processes and responding to claims; -Advising on negotiation and drafting of compromise agreements -Drafting service agreements, contracts of employment and staff handbooks Your experience? I work with clients ranging from national businesses and local authorities, charities to local businesses. I have recently achieved several quick results for clients, achieving the withdrawal or strike out of the employee's claims via the Employment Tribunal process. I have advised a regional charity on a large scale redundancy process and assisted a registered care home provider to successfully implement significant changes to employees' terms and conditions. I’ve also advised on TUPE in relation to business sales and the outsourcing of contracts, ensuring our clients understand the legal requirements and risks and have appropriate contractual protection. I’m a member of the Employment Lawyers Association and also present training and seminars for clients on employment issues. Which five words best describe you? Pragmatic, positive, efficient, reliable and approachable Three things we didn’t know about you? I like watersports - windsurfing, surfing and canoeing in particular; I'm also a governor at Abbotswood Junior School in my spare time; I help to run the firm's Corporate Social Responsibility team, working closely with our Charity of the Year.
