The dispute about children’s novelty luggage continues in the
English courts. The case is about the design of Trunki suitcases made by a company in England
and Kiddee Cases made by a company based in Hong Kong. Trunki’s use of the
design of the children’s luggage has been consistently challenged by the Hong
Kong company. It is unusual for cases in relation to design to be so robustly fought, there is obviously a lucrative market for children’s luggage.
In the long-running tussle, Magmatic, the Bristol-based company behind Trunki cases, argues that Kiddee case luggage infringes on its registered design rights. Kiddee cases are made by the Hong Kong-based PMS International and, like Trunki cases, are decorated to look like animals
